Disable Volume Change Via Volume Rocker Buttons In Android

How many times has it that you have missed a notification because your phone's ringer volume has been toned down, or worse, muted because you or someone else accidentally pressed the volume rocker buttons down?

This has happened to me a number of times and this has probably happened to you as well. On IOS, there is a setting "change with buttons" setting that you can turn off to disable this feature. For Android devices, however, this option is almost non-existint. The good thing is that there is an easy way to disable volume change via the volume rocker buttons on an Android device via a free app "Rocker Locker".

To get this app, simply:

  1. Open the Play store and do a search for "Rocker Locker".
  2. Download and install the application.
  3. Once installed, simply open the application and tap on the ENABLE button in the middle of the screen.
It is that simple. There is no other option or setting inside the application. Once enabled, when the volume rocker buttons are pressed on your Android device, it changes the media volume even when you are on the home screen or without an application open.
